Who was Sanjeeve Sharma?

Sanjeeve Sharma was born on November 28, 1993; he was born in Vancouver, B.C., at B.C. Children’s Hospital. His mother endured over 18 hours of labour, eventually Sanjeeve decided to arrive at 2:52 AM, on Sunday morning. He was born a heavy 8lbs and 15 Oz., an ounce short of 9 pounds. He was a healthy baby.

During Sanjeeve’s first year he resided with his parents and grandparents, and his first pet dog, Willy, in Burnaby, B.C, at his grandparent’s home. Sanjeeve would sleep in a crib surrounded by his favourite dolls, including his favourite Curious George doll.

In that same year, December, 1993, Sanjeeve and his parents moved into their first home in North Burnaby. It was a condo development and Sanjeeve spent his first two years there.

In 1994, every professional sports team of Vancouver made it to the finals or won a championship that year; this was all before Sanjeeve’s first birthday. Sanjeeve was a good luck charm, not only to his family but to the sports teams as well. In 1994 the Canucks (hockey) made it to the finals, the Canadians (baseball) made it to the finals, and the Lions (football) won the Grey Cup.

Sanjeeve spent a lot of time in a park that was across his home, his parents would take him to play there regularly, many times Sanjeeve would want to eat the little rock pebbles.

In 1995, Sanjeeve moved to Surrey, B.C., this was a brand new house which his parents had built. Sanjeeve spent the next two years here. Here Sanjeeve started to attend his first daycare at age 3; the daycare was called Kids Inn. Sanjeeve started to like watching videos of himself, at times his father would put on a video tape of Sanjeeve’s first birthday, to calm him down, because his mother would come home from work later, this would not work too long, when Sanjeeve saw his mother in the video he would cry for her.

In August of 1996, Sanjeeve got his first taste of being a celebrity. With his dad, he was featured on a local TV news broadcast, and he was featured in the local newspaper, The Vancouver Sun, this was all because of the large KISS collection he and his dad owned.

In 1997, Sanjeeve and his parents sold that house and bought a small rancher which they wanted to develop into a daycare. Before that deal could be finalized, Sanjeeve and his parents resided in a small two bedroom basement in Surrey for three months. There Sanjeeve got his first taste of driving as his parents bought him a small red jeep specially made for kids to drive, it was powered by battery, but you can drive it, it had brakes, and an accelerator. One day, Sanjeeve actually took the little girl who lived next door from him for a ride in the neighbourhood to the surprise of his parents who were looking for him everywhere. Sanjeeve was only allowed to play with that truck in the back yard, he snuck out with it with his little girlfriend, and he was found one block down the road driving her around.

In 1998, Sanjeeve and his parents moved to the rancher home, this was a home they would eventually bring down to build another home with a full licensed daycare in it. Here, Sanjeeve got his first pet; a black Labrador dog named Shadow. Sanjeeve started to get into the rock band KISS, and would start watching their videos and listening to their music on a regular basis. Also in 1998, Sanjeeve first started to attend school; his school was right across the street, the school was called Newton Elementary.

Also, this year, Sanjeeve’s little brother was born, his name is Sanjesh; Sanjeeve was just about ready to turn 5 years old. When Sanjesh was brought home on the first day from the hospital, Sanjeeve was so jealous that he took his little tape deck and a KISS cassette and stormed off into a room for himself and slammed the door in the process. All said and done, Sanjeeve dearly loved his brother.

Sanjeeve also by age 5 learned to ride a bike on his own. As much as his parents would like to take the credit for this, it was Sanjeeve himself that learned to ride a bike, mostly from his gradual graduation from training wheels.

In March of 1999, Sanjeeve had a chance to meet various members of the Vancouver Canucks at a family carnival at GM Place, among some of the players were Bret Hedican, Brad May, and Todd Bertuzzi.

The daycare was ready to be constructed and the construction lasted from 1999 to the summer of 2000. During this time, Sanjeeve, his little brother, and his parents once again resided in Burnaby until the new home was built. There, they celebrated Sanjesh’ first birthday.

On New Year Eve, just before the turn of the new century, Sanjeeve, his parents, grandmother, and some family and friends all attended a KISS concert, this was Sanjeeve’s first concert ever attended.

Sanjeeve and his family moved into the newly constructed home/daycare in July of 2000. Sanjeeve was very excited about the move and having his very first bedroom of his own.

Sanjeeve started to develop a love for the game of hockey. He started to play ball hockey outside on a regular basis in 2001, with his friends.

In 2003, Sanjeeve joined his first ice hockey team; he played with the Surrey Sharks. Sanjeeve tried very hard in training camp, but he was behind some of the other players, primarily because he did not have an enough skating sessions. Sanjeeve started to take private skating lessons at 8 rinks in Burnaby, there was a huge improvement in Sanjeeve’s game after his lessons. Sanjeeve’s team that year won the Atom Championship.

During this season, Sanjeeve celebrated his birthday by having a birthday sleepover at his home with his hockey teammates. While his parents and little brother were soundly asleep, Sanjeeve and his teammates were up until 4:00 AM in the morning, none of the players had sufficient sleep, and they were to play a game later in the afternoon. When game time came, Sanjeeve and his teammates without any sleep when on to beat their opponents, 9-2, in fact, Sanjeeve got two goals and an assist in the game, those two goals were his first two goals in hockey. His coach later joked that maybe Sanjeeve should always throw a party before a game.

Sanjeeve in the next two years played with the Surrey Senators in the Pee Wee division in the 2004/2005 season, and for the Surrey Panthers during the 2005/2006 season also in the Pee Wee division. He played primarily as a defence man, during his first three years of hockey, in each year improving his play.
